Upon the land
So many things happen
In April

The burst of spring
The end of winter
Political turmoil boils over
Tax time in the U.S.
This April seems like
A repeat of earlier Aprils
COVID running amuck
Black life protests everywhere
Politicians scheming
Corporations cheating
People dying
Easter Sunday
Brings no relief
As the madness spreads
Across the land
