Appreciating Today
Changing your priorities
broadens the width of your scope.
And you start searching your heart
for a faint glimmer of hope.
Luck leaps merrily along,
then makes a sharp reversal.
For life's not a Broadway play;
there's no script or rehearsal.
The beauty of Winter's white
leaves Autumn colors in doubt.
And when tears morph into guilt;
anxieties start to sprout.
Reality devastates
dreams sculpted by hope and time.
For emotions are fickle;
and often turn on a dime.
Life is meant to be enjoyed;
or it'll simply slip away.
And you can start by merely
appreciating today.
