Apples Bring Hearts Home

Ekphrastic: Nature Morte Aux Pommes
Painting by Alfred Sisley

Red, gold apples lay
Crispy, crunchy picked that day
Mama's orchard farm

Paring with her knife
Her son brought home his new wife
To show her their farm

An inheritance
Saw to them as excellence
Kept with family

Drifting through like doves
Apple pie carried with love
Family is home

I love apple pie in the summer and apple cobbler in the wintertime. Apples are so flexible. Wonderful poem.

Sorry I took so long to reply. I was entering a contest with the Art Museum putting words with art, and wished I could have posted the picture with it, but I thought it made you think of the smell of Apple pie making too! Thank you for your comment.

Ah, this reminds me of "down home, apple pie, country music, love for God and the Bible, and all things great." Probably because my dream has always been to live in the country, and now I do, and could not possibly be more happy! Nice one for sure! Love it in every way!
