Apart

The door is shut.
Out of the blue the lines are cut.
On the outside looking in,
Your heart is cold,
My skin's too thin.

What have you done?
Why are you sad?
Didn't you enjoy the fun you had?

Forget the cost.
Harden your heart.
Close your eyes.
Don't speak.
It may be a sign that you are weak.

Stay strong.
Remain firm.
You're in for the long term.

Are you telling HIM to stay strong after saying he has hardened his heart? Or is the last part meant for yourself, Carole. I really like this one and I enjoy your style.

Hi Andrea. I was telling HIM...because I knew he would weaken/be sorry sooner or later and he was. Thanks for your kind comment. Carole

This reoccurring theme in your poetry today is heart breaking and creates such a lonely feeling inside. Here's hoping the smile in your poetry returns soon.

I know, Chris, but that was 10 years ago and my smile did return...briefly. Thank you.
