Anubis
Flail gripped in the crook of his arm,
canine,scavenging for scraps of life.
His blackened face the soil of the Nile.
Enbalming the deceased, encouraging
the afterlife, the rebirth for the worthy.
A decision not to be taken lightly.
Patron of the underworld, pathleader.
Jackal-like, conducting souls,
determining whether godly knowledge
and faith balances correctly,
upon the Scales of Justice.
Presenting the heavy hearts to Ammit
to destroy the wicked souls.
Lord and friend of the dead,
companion,tomb guardian,
be sure your heart is light as a feather.
