Anticipating Spring

Tiny crocuses soon peep their purple heads Above the lingering pale green foliage In my upper yard's terraced flowering beds Robins on my lawn will hungrily forage Building their sturdy nests out of sticks and threads Young folks are considering dates for marriage Days when I open the windows for fresh air And belt out the loudest show tune, if I dare! By the way, thanks for my win in your past contest. I just wish I had to time to see winners of recent contests like yours. It's been a real pain trying to keep up here. I just wrote down 9 or 10 new contests. Geeeez!!!

Thanks, Andrea. Most of the new contests do not interest me at all. I think I may be burning out of them. You're very welcome. Your poem was very deserving.

THis is such a joyful example of the form. I see you had only one comment and it was from dear Carolyn who died just last year. I sure miss her sometimes.

You are delving into some of my older poems, Andrea. I'm glad. It makes me feel like they are still alive. Yes, I have a feeling Carolyn commented here at a time when she was very, very ill. She was a stellar lady.

Spring sounds like a joyful time for you, Milton, and I love the images you use to create the scene. Best wishes for success in the contest! Carolyn

Spring is my favorite season, Carolyn, because it tells me that summer is coming! Hope you like it, too.
