Anti-Ascension

Falling again though I never jumped
Lying again because I couldn’t love
Dead city lights could never pretend
Hiding from truth with everything I defend

She came to me in a dream within dreams
I held her close but now it just seems
I was too scared to ever let go
But when I did I started to know

Loneliness that can never save
Myself from myself and the anger that gave
Cursing the minds of those that can see
The mirror inside that just won’t let me be

If I resist, I’m back at the start
The end and the middle of everything dark
If I give in, I’d only destroy
Everything that is me and everything in their heart

Falling again and I don’t even mind
As long as I know that I can’t even try
Fading again but I still know why
I’ll never leave until I know I can die
I’ll never leave until I think I can fly
