Another Year

Another year is ending
Making way for one anew
What we've observed will shape us
To create a better view

Another year is ending
Let the new be not the same
For a better place is not far from possible
If we all could change our way

Another year is ending
May we embrace the new with hope
Though it may seem bleak and futile at times
Together, with love we can cope

Another year is ending
And I truly wish you all the best
May your year be full of love and understanding
So that your mind may be at rest

Happy holidays and a great new year.

The break in pattern ("same" does not rhyme with "way") cost you a higher place on technical grounds. Unless this break was intended, for example, to emphasize your desire for change? While I understand your decision based on the break in rhyme, I will admit that to allow for the potency of the poem to not be sacrificed, I chose a word that didn't necessarily rhyme but still had a similar spoken sound.
