I will turn back, back to a tattered page to thirteen and my sorrow at this age I was timid, alone I wore my pain like a heavy black cloak I read and wrote poems and seldom spoke my heart had turned to stone

Joseph, thank you so much for your comment, appreciate. Yes, lots of painful memories dwell in my mind and it is time to face them. The Lord blessed me with this gift of writing for a reason and perhaps this is the reason.

Jan, thank you so much for your compassion, appreciate, yes, I felt like I did not belong, like I was from another family, not part of the family love, so my life took a nasty turn at a very young age, but I always had writing as my safe place.

Hi Constance: Such a beautiful rhyme encapsulating the isolation that many teens feel. I love the image of the tattered page…. A heart of stone waiting for love to awaken it. Hugs, SuZ

Such a poignant and heartfelt poem this is so well expressed and presented as always. I felt this deeply as always, especially those last three lines hit home for me

Ink, thank you so much for the compliment and comment, yes, I felt alone, a loner at school, no friends, mom and dad gushing over a new baby girl, a little brother who was chubby cheek cute everyone said, then there was me, the forgotten child, fed, dressed properly, but given no kisses, no hugs, no love. I was drifting away.
