Another Sky Diver
Another Sky Diver
Two shrill little beeps in my phone..
An incoming message into the Whatsapp messenger in my phone….
Pick up my trusted phone and quickly finger traced open the Whatsapp messenger…
Not to disappoint, there was that familiar symbolic mark of a message in the messenger..
A quick little impatient tap, the screen immediately switched to reveal a picture incoming..
As evidenced through a quickly growing green ring, the picture was rapidly downloading…
O God, it was a dismal picture of a couple of police officers and some gawking bystanders…
Gathered round a sorry sight of a prone body of the latest suicide victim in an urban area…
There within view was one gawker busily recording the scene through his phone camera..
Without a doubt, diligently in haste to proudly document and send out his pictures….
Thanks to gawkers like him, many were privileged to preview first hand such fatal situation.…
After all, thanks to instant messaging, it is a coup to be the first to post it out for appreciation..
Attached was a little comment to the picture received, it was brief and sounded flippant…
All it said, Another skydiver today, followed by some details of the location where it happened..
As in many others, it is another high rise building that has drawn someone who was suicidal …
Given that this is the 3rd case of such unnatural death in 2 weeks of extreme hot weather…
Can it be something in the existing oppressive heat that somehow forced them under…
Can it be something that simple to explain away the finality in their decisions to surrender…
How they must have suffered unimaginable pain and despaired in their minds and hearts …
What dark devilish thoughts must have flourished unchecked to drive them to such drastic acts …
Where could they have reached out so that some helping hands could have guided them…
When they were each a tortured soul looking for solutions to problems that out challenged them..
As one, they must have stood at the edge of the ledge, at the edge of the impending fall to death…
Did no one hear their silent screams for help, up to that time on that ledge, before they leap to death…
O God, kindly spare them a thought and reach out for them long before these lives welcome death...!
