Another Point of View
Empathy helps me write poetry,
a collection of smiles, tears, and rage.
A poet's words can oft forge the keys
that free fragile feelings from their cage.
When probing for deeper awareness,
insensitivity risks my wrath.
For it hurts to suffer criticism
from those following a dead-end path.
Seeking answers to complex questions,
I find truth resides in simple words.
And my poems are snapshots of life,
from the human psyche to wild birds.
In the reality of my world,
dreams turn to frustration as time slips.
But, the memories stored in my heart
manage to bring a smile to my lips.
Through poems, I hope to open your eyes,
exposing my heart and soul to you.
And though I speak of things familiar,
I offer another point of view.
