As I am a bus monitor, where I work there is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for a child being left unattended on a bus. It is required that we throughly search the bus both when the last child is dropped off, then again when we get back to base. Child left alone on a bus, even a minute is cause to get fired, IMMEDIATLY.
Another One Left Alone
Just a little rant to say
the news from work was not okay!
An unattended child was left on a bus somewhere,
pretty sure that child had a scare.
Twenty-one minutes alone on a bus to summer camp.
That driver will get the pink slip,
because when a child is alone on a bus for any length of time
that is damaging to the child in the mind.
If you are a bus driver,
or a monitor like me,
searching the bus is not crazy.
When the last child gets off the bus
walk to the back and don't fuss.
Examine the seats one by one
then on the floor before you call in “done.”
