Another Direction

"Do not write for their standard, write for your own," A wise man of prophetic words told me. It’s like I’m focused more on the larger picture, Of paradise and prosperity of success. The money, cars, clothes, with my wife standing beside me. I think of the house and the land before me, My writing career shooting off like a rocket, While my name shines brightly for the next generation. But all along I’ve been ignoring humble beginnings, That will set my foot to the door that will get me to the next level. "Do not write for their standard, write for your own," Was the word spoken for me to absorb. I now know that I must focus my energy on the smaller picture, Taking one step at a time because it’s impossible to jump, From the bottom of the mountain to the very top. I want the material things with my wife, Standing as my queen in prosperity; But I must seek the kingdom so my vision steps into reality. I want my voice to be heard in this upcoming generation, But first I must walk in God’s intended direction. Every rejection I take makes me sicker and sicker, With lies in my head that my voice is ignored. Thinking that I could cruise down the road with ease, Now I’m stuck in a traffic jam with the road suddenly closing. I guess it’s meant to take the opposite direction, And take the exit when I find it. "Do not write for their standard, write for your own," A wise man has once told me. Thinking of that road ahead, I realize I must take another direction.
