ANOTHER DAY WITH EYES ON THE PRIZE
(JESUS NAVIGATING, SIMON OF CYRENE AIDING)
The ever coming dawn
Seemed to have struggled
With the coming of morning:-
Returning from its nocturnal journey,
The sun slowly stretched, yawned,
And rose to the appointed occasion;
Sending dim, goldened rays, piercing
Shades of lazy gray clouds, as the
Whistling wind wailed, whooshing
Through trees as it streaked corners,
Sounding awaking alarms that in no way,
Hands could stop, nor ringing ears ignore:-
The weight of sleep eased as the window
Shades of old tired eyes slowly opened
To the new light of a new day, oblivious
To the time of the closure of the past day:-
With yawning praises due, thanksgiving
Is offered for another bright, cherished day,
To be in labors of love, passing on to the children,
Liberating divine wisdom and guidance; enabling them
To courageously strive on in today’s ongoing struggles:
Seeking spiritual, social, political, and economic freedom:-
Yes, chosen once more again by my Creator,
To be in His divine service, by being of service
In labors of love, towards all in need of service,
I rose and clothed myself with the breastplate
Of the audacious faith, enlightenment, and
Strength inherited from the ancestors:-
In God’s navigation, and my eyes stayed
On the prize, I go out into God’s labors of love:-
Praying to be an instrument of His peace and love,
And a drum major, guiding towards justice and equality:-
