The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Another Cup of Coffee

Another cup of coffee might jolt me wide awake
I shake me head and hesitate
my mind and thoughts are on delay
slipping out of bed to greet the day.
The night was howling wind and cold,
   chilled me to the bone
all that could wake me was the phone.
I tried to write but with no sleep last night
my body aches and my hair's a fright.
Dare not dress and step out the door
friends will only ask what's the score?
Give me coffee, strong and dark
that alone may light my inner spark.
Till then I am like the walking dead
with dreams and sleep still in my head.
