Another Chance
We awake to a dilemma
We can’t run - we can’t hide
Like many things in life we encounter
No concerns, until others suffer and begin to die
We’re like a child frightened by the darkness
Juxtaposed with certitudes and fear of the unknown
We fervently cling to our Holy books
Ironically, trying to prevent going to the greatest place we could ever know
Anxious thoughts arise about our lifestyle
We make promises to do better - to begin
But just as the fog lifts from the horizon
We all return to our cherished deadly sins
Perhaps there's just no hope?
Humans - we only become aware when there's traumatic pain
There's a total lack of humility
Shrouded in hubris - it's insane
The sun will rise again tomorrow
The darkness will recede with the light
There's another chance - a new beginning
To acknowledge and respect the one true blessing - life
