Anonymous Angels
I heard outside on Christmas Eve
loud taps that brought me to my door.
They had so little time to leave!
And what was on our front porch floor?
I looked around at all the snow,
but there was not a soul in sight.
How swiftly they had had to go
to disappear into the night.
I reached down for a box I saw.
atop it was an envelop.
The box so big inspired my awe
and in me leapt a spark of hope.
My spouse was jobless, and that year
had been quite hard. Had someone known
of our bad luck and growing fear?
For in their gifts great love was shown.
They’d brought us money, that would pay
our bills that month and food to feed
our kids great meals on Christmas day.
God bless them for their gracious deed.
