Annual Limelight

The season's almost over,
and I hate seeing it leave
without a whisper,

complaint or compliment,
while poets
bask in literary sunlight,

thinking the moment is eternal.
April's month of poetry
is soon to end.

Every day holds a poem!! My heart rejoices in this fact. :) Perhaps I think differently. ~ Brandy

You are right, but we poets receive a little more attention during April.

We enjoy and relish what we can, while we can. We remain optimists.

Gerald, at my work, which is a school, no one seems to care about April being poetry month except me due to standardized testing which is so non-me, and is taking up all of our valuable time, worse yet, the children's. For this reason alone, I will be glad when May is over, for this idiocy continues for 4 weeks, ruining poetry, art, and creativity for all of us.

I understand (several educators in my family) and feel sorry for this loss to our culture.
