Announcement

blue lights shine
from the window
sheers almost cover the windows
and the house
is lit outside
watching from the road he can see
them moving room to room
arms of laundry
pots of dinner
waving papers
fighting brothers
and here he sits in his cold car
slapping keys on the steering wheel
knowing
when he goes in he will rip their hearts out
announcement

I wonder what he has to say that will so destroy the family. If he's the father or if he's a stranger that's another question (rip their hearts out figurative or literal). Very mysterious and broody. I love it. Thanks for sharing. -Yoni

Very compelling, Veronica. There was a recent event here in Florida in which a man killed his own family of five and thenfled. What makes people do things like this? You really set the mood by describing the way this sinister man waits to enter the home, watchin his family move about. Perhaps he made a different type of "announcement," but my mind could not help but turn to the even that made recent headlines. I can only ask why things like this happen. Outstanding! Love, Carolyn
