Annointed One
Saul's mad reign
defiles the chosen people
as Samuel leads his heifer
down the dusty road
to Jerusalem
One thousand years before
the manger fills
to worship the king
of all eternity
God has commanded
a new king annoited
to lead these Jews
to righteousness
and victory
Samuel causes uproar
"A prophet in these lands?"
Seeking Jesse
seeking sons
seeking the best to lead
God's chosen
Of the seven brought before
Samuel sees potential in each
God's great word says Nay
to all
Look to the runt
the diamond in the rough
out tending the flock for his father
he is washed in the dirt of the earth
and keeps his flock safe
a protector
a warrior
a boy who puts God first
With five smooth stones
this annointed one of
God
slays giants
raises nations
and gives all glory to
God!!!
