Anniversary
Karen Leigh Nicholls, will you be my wife.
If the answer is yes, then you know it's for life.
We had been friends for a while now,
I think it's time for our marriage vow.
To the complete delight of a young boy,
the answer comes back kind of coy.
So with joy, hopes, dreams and wonder,
We start out on our own putting all else asunder.
Karen turns from single to married,
After a time four children she carried.
And now a year short of 3 decades,
She has grandchildren, what accolades!
A lot can happen to a person in 29 years.
The tummy fills out and hair grown on the top of the ears.
The house once made turns into a home,
Children grow up and go out on their own.
To use an old cliche, life's not meant to be easy,
I know to some this may sound a bit cheesy.
Married life is full of its ups and its downs,
From laughter and fun and sometimes some frowns.
As I sit here at the table putting pen to paper,
I feel blessed to recall family life and all of its caper.
But one thought fills all of my senses,
Is the woman I married, I say with no pretences.
Wife, mother, granny. You know that I love you.
I have learn't through the years there is no woman above you.
Even more now than even at the start,
you will always be the girl kept closest to my Heart.
Happy 29th anniversary
