Animal Crackers
We go to see the animals,
the zebra and the bear.
The lion, the tiger,
and sometimes the small hair.
No, not the one… on top of my head.
The one that is soft and has very big, fat feet.
He also sometimes…
only if occasionally…
wears a watch.
It is the family zoo.
My son, he is the keeper.
He loves to walk around…
and write them down…
all their names and faces.
George the gorilla,
Mike the giraffe,
Alex is a kangaroo,
And if you are very lucky,
he might make a name…
for you.
So what furry beast is yours,
your-very-favorite-want-to-be?
The animal of choice,
panda, camel, wolf or big cat?,
It matters little unless dinner is late.
Have fun at the zoo, it is the very best place.
The flamingos and ostriches often have a race.
Set the time, set the pace,
It is an imaginary space…
indeed.
