God blesses us with angels Not thinking of fluffy wings or mystical flying things I'm thinking of those who help you beyond measure The life changing, life saving acts each selfless soul brings Could be that aunt who always highlights the positive side of chaos Wanting you to see that there is always a light Or the uncle who praises you, but will not sugar coat a major misstep Initially angry, you do your best to correct, for you know good and well he's right Or the friend who keeps in touch thru years and miles seems to instinctively call when you really need to vent The pal who centers you, knows what to say to bring you back to yourself when life has taken hold, making you forget where your true self went Those strangers...who defend you when you're unjustifiably attacked unapologetically righting what's morally wrong The first responders, putting their lives on the line to save yours such brave hearts, so miraculous when they come along The one in a lifetime love That romantic dream come true Your complement, your eternal partner The sweetheart that heaven sent just for you And when those selfless souls pass away Even within another realm, those angels continue to protect those they hold dear Countless ways they communicate care and caution...you can see their loving foresight in hindsight, though they're no longer physically here God blesses us with angels Not thinking of fluffy wings or mystical flying things I'm thinking of those who help you beyond measure The life changing, life saving acts each selfless soul brings 3/24/16
