Its confusions swallowed All your time Bore you pitilessly on their tide Out into their bottomless sea Until you lost sight of the land whence you began. And that was when Those other thoughts came crowding in, Flowing in on all sides From all the currents carrying you along And that was when So many came to seem More important than those You made yourself Back on the land.
