And So It Goes
And so it goes,
you live in your world,
I live in mine.
And without the grace of God
we may never be close again,
never be “together” again.
After many more weeks I may be able
to sleep and dream once more
without seeing your faces.
For time is healing this hurt
slowly, so slowly
that it may take a lifetime.
A lifetime I’d rather spend
having special people like you
to hold, to love.
But we’re seldom given what we want,
you and I,
nevertheless, I will always try to be your friend.
No matter what it costs me
my caring will continue.
And so it goes…
