And So It Begins
And so it begins, this journey most sought
By all God's creatures on this breathing Earth.
But how does it start? What catalyst lurks
To energize this path we seek from birth?
Few things in this life are universal.
Ah, but a smile is one of those, my friend.
Happiness lies behind that curve of lips -
A great start toward a most uncertain end.
All relationships I have ever known
Start with a smile - his or hers - no matter.
A simple acknowledgement that all is well -
The conversation will be more than chatter.
I was stifling a yawn when she came in.
Thirty feet away in this raucous crowd.
Auburn hair and green eyes was all I saw -
Until she smiled and it ceased to be loud.
Our eyes meet and she turns and walks my way.
The crowd vanishes, the atmosphere thins,
As I am mesmerized by her approach.
Suddenly she smiles and so it begins.
