Ancient Pyramids

Astounding wonders of the Earth
Statues that have stood the test of time
Ancient structures of pyramids
Seemingly a series of sequential steps
Others found on higher ground
Stony blocks, weight in tonnes
Hauled into place, workers of the great
Deep within a royal tomb
Gleaming smooth surface
Stripped of limestone covering
That of great measure
Preservation thereof, a mummy rests
Clothes and jewellery to the afterlife
Avid depths of chambers
Pyramid passage
Spiritual door
Ever-present, evermore
