Anatomy of a Hallmark

For those who love the Hallmark reels
with stories that give all the feels
You’ll notice that in every one
there is the same web to be spun

The small town girl who comes back home
her city slicker job to roam
Has led her back to find romance
to give someone a second chance

And then, that interrupted kiss
that makes us wait for wedded bliss
Precedes that stumble and near fall
fair maiden saved by one so tall

Of course, there shines our Christmas glee
to warm the hearts of all who see
The Holidays will save the day
when lovers seem to lose their way

The cookie sales and Santa’s wink
That magic that still tickles pink
And knowing that it all will mend
about five minutes till the end!

So safe, so sweet, that Hallmark thrill
When such a show is on the bill
So make ye fun, if that must be
But there’s no bigger fan than me

Wonderful rhyming and flow, Mike. You nailed it! Sounds just like the Hallmark Christmas movies. :-) Fun enjoyable read, my friend. Blessings, Bill

Soft giggle. I love how you describe each unfolding moment. You're exactly right ! I must say, it's my "favorite" channel to watch. (Can you tell, by my romantic poetry ?) Your thoughts bring a smile. Happy Monday, Mike. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Bakeries abound in Hallmark Land. There's something about warm cookies that everyone can agree on! Spot on Mr. Gentile. Peace in HeartLand Valley. :o)

Ah, Mike, we all have a soft spot in our hearts for the romantic, even if sometimes it is repetitive and maudlin. We love that warm feeling inside when everything works out well and there is a happy conclusion. Happy Sunday!

You've got the pattern down perfectly, Mike. They meet at the beginning, then problems arise, although stars are twinkling in their eyes. One of them will soon take their leave while the other stays behind to grieve. But in the blink of love's eye, happily ever after will unfold, and as each story is told... the long-awaited kiss takes place with a sweet embrace.
