Notes About The Poem

An Unusual Tea Party

I planned my party with great care Sent out invites so guests were aware Cats accepted they purred with delight Rover was reticent but came on night. My friends were unruly but settled down As tea was served they made no sound Think perhaps they were intimidated A fact I should have anticipated. Chocolate muffins broke the ice Rover tucked in and barked "so nice" Cats licked their paws free of cream Their pleasure obvious or so it seemed. Teacups too small they need a drink I'll use the saucers~well done I think Now we make polite teatime chatter With purring and barks, my guests scatter.
