An Unfortunate Ricochet
An Unfortunate Ricochet
By Elton Camp
Armadillos can be quite the pest
In your yard, they’ll build a nest
The holes they make get big
As for delicious grubs they dig
Not all of them are disease free
A few can carry dreaded leprosy
A Georgia man gave one a whack
But the bullet went bouncing back
Through the house wall it went
In his mother-in-law, it was spent
To arrest him, there was no need
“It was an accident,” cops decreed
The next day, all you could hear
Were pistol shots, far and near
Every husband in the area around
Out shooting armadillos was found
(This is very loosely based on an actual event in Georgia)
