An old man contemplating desire
The girls look just as good today
as they did at age seventeen
You still long to ask them for date
the desire every bit as keen.
But now you are no longer young
Your belly fat, and thin your hair
A long long way from "love's young dream"
Headed to decline and despair
So you start to talk, not knowing
where to start, or quite where this ends
and find the delight of seeing
young women as comrades and friends.
Don't cry when romance turns the page
There's a wisdom that comes with age.
