An Old Eternity

An Old Eternity This shoreline is old, No lights are burning, all is dark, The wind is blowing cold, He is only young, And fear takes hold. The rain is coming, A storm is building, No sword, nor shield, nor spear bravely thrown, His weapon, only hope, A heart once his own, Now swings on lost love’s rope. Can pain, if learnt and heeded, Be next time, more easily averted? His heart, his mind diverted, Her love this time, is needed. He is growing, and swiftly learning, The sun is dying, A sky once blue, now bleeds red, The light is fading, What has passed, now lies dead, In this night, eternity waits ahead.
