An Odd Sight

This was something I saw in Manhattan, on a daily visit to my dying father in a
NYC hospital. It has had me scratching my head in wonder ever since. Till the
day I die I will never understand how and why the world has slipped it's orbit and
cruised into the Twilight Zone. I actually saw 2 versions of this, but one in
particular stands out in my mind.;
Driving in Manhattan is so stressful, in itself, that I'd prefer decapitation any day.
    Well, I looked over at the sidewalk, and saw a young "Yuppie" couple walking
together down the street. She in a smart business dress, he in suit and tie. Yet
both were wearing sneakers! Now to me that's weird enough, but not what
struck me then. Each was busily chattering on seperate cell phones, oblivious
to the other. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but this baffles me. what has the world
come to?
