An Intended syringe

An Intended syringe
by Frank Daub

There is new intent in words today –
A syringe quality in what they
	Say.
Injecting soul-aimed death –
	a truer death than before,
When the possibility of Hope
	bore
The possibility of escape
	through laughter,
An understanding of soft-intended
	humor.

A softer spirit in Meaning, then.

Now comes the specter of control,
A meaner chase against the soul.
All Indications point UNREPENTANT.

What did Paul’s letters warn?
Read gentle understanding –
	Before eternal Morn.

The form gives the poem a sharp, unsettling rhythm: the isolated words feel like small injections, reinforcing the central image. The contrast between gentle humour and soul-directed cruelty lends emotional force, while the closing question brings a searching spiritual dimension.

Alison, Do you see the intended meaning in this poem? Your comment regarding “unsettling” hits directly upon my intent. This is most about human-developed technology that threatens humanity itself. Whaddaya think that is? Thank you, Faithful Reader, Frank
