An Honest Politician

I had to close my eyes and cover my ears to listen,
wanting not to see the expressions on their faces
just filled with lies, ill prepared, oblivious to reality, all fake.
She said, he said is an ever constant laugh at poking fun
what the other should or shouldn't have done
what they did or did not do, e-mails lost or misconstrued
it's the people who have not won like me and you.
Both announce bold grandiose accomplishments and claims
to have surpassed sacrifice and hardships and strife
and each are so untruthful in this game of blame
deception of private and political lives frozen in still life.
Neither seem to know what honesty and sacrifice truly is
their records show only more deception and lies, hers and his
less than a hundred thousand jobs were pre- existing
but he created them, believe me, believe me?
It seems only the rich and famous chose to bully, lie and rule
a lot of money here, a little e-mail deleted there
and in that oval office selfish, deluded powered fools.
Is there such thing as an honest politician
to restore our America split by this derision
could we recognize them if they suddenly appeared
or shall they remain unknown never to be revered.

This is one thought impacting poem, DM. A pity others have not commented on it, though it's been read by more than a few. Your words of iron strikes true in the fire of public scrutiny. Splendid poem. Love the title too. Love and peace always.
