You knew how to create a smile and inevitably did so,
I never had a more loyal friend than you.
Each time I mistreated you, you'd shy away;
and yet, you stuck by me when I acted crazy.
When I got sick, you wouldn't leave my bedside
until you were sure I was okay.
And you were happy sharing my happiness,
treating me as the center of your universe.
I let you into my heart, where few have been,
and you've never made me regret that.
But the time has come for me to bid you goodbye;
you were an exceptional friend,
and if there is a doggy heaven, you're already there.
