An Evening Wonderment

3 November 2018 4:45pm

Peering up at the heavens through the skylight
I see the sun striking the trees casting shadows across fields so bright

I see shaking autumn leaves of brilliant orange and brown
As a vulture on the chilling wind hovers around

I wonder at the waning light
That heralds in the calming night

What dreams may come from this carnival mind
What tales will spin and confoundedly unwind

Come to me you mocking words
With visions dark and so absurd

Your time is short and you've lots to tell
Before your burned in forgotten hell

When you're through I will awake
And from my soul you shall I shake

For it is not for me to hold
The strange stories to me you've told
