An Evening

The day whispers away into twilight
as my companion and I
take the time
to be still

she sniffs the branchs
while I gaze at the stars that dot the almost velvet sky
and I see trees with their filagreed branches
as backdrop against the twilight colours
azure
deep blue and reds that speak of a sailor's delight

the scent of the evening is wonderful
fresh and pungent
fills my lungs like the breath of life
while contentment
must play over my face
and so we go
my companion and I
together
each loving these moments.
