An Emotional Minefield

Love's an emotional minefield:
when hope steps on fragile feelings.
And hearts learn not to break or yield;
but bend like a reed in the wind.

Where innocence leads hearts astray:
love's an emotional minefield.
And it's easy to lose your way:
if you've never been there before.

Your reality stays concealed;
as dreams morph into fantasy.
Love's an emotional minefield,
pitted with pits of depression.

Youth painted pictures in your mind;
touting love's everlasting joy.
But as you venture forth, you'll find:
love's an emotional minefield.
