Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen-line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, the third line of stanza three, and the fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme. line 1 line 2 line 3 line 4 line 5 line 6 (line 1) line 7 line 8 line 9 line 10 line 11 (line 1) line 12 line 13 line 14 line 15 line 16 (line 1)

Love's an emotional minefield where hope hijacks fragile feelings. And trust cautions hearts not to yield but bend, like a reed in the wind. When innocence leads hearts astray, love's an emotional minefield. And it's easy to lose your way if you've never been there before. Reality is oft concealed, as dreams drift into fantasy. Love's an emotional minefield, pitted with bouts of depression. Youth painted pictures in your mind of true love’s everlasting joy. But as you venture forth, you'll find love's an emotional minefield. (Quatern) 12/05/2021

Love hurts and our fantasizing the concept of love can destroy us. You have painted a very poignant message. Blessings, Paulette

Truer words were never spoken, Emile. Love is so incredibly wonderful, but it runs the gamut of deep feelings and emotions. You've done a beautiful job of expressing this in your poem. Love it!
