An Elephant's Toe

It's early spring and what do you know The corn is as low as an elephant's toe The grass has riz no sign of rain Boidies are singing a happy refrain Feel like jumping and clicking my heels But I'm 77, take a long time to heal Think I'll just watch the young 'uns at play And reminisce bout the good ole days The corn is as low as an elephant's toe Soon reach his eye as the old song goes It's early spring and what do you know The corn is as low as an elephant's toe © Jack Ellison 2013

Great poem... Loved it... So did my dragon... He suddenly looked at his feet and wanted his toenails painted... Fortunately, the paint store had just the thing, but then you talked about eyes... Do you know how much eye liner and eye shadow it takes to paint a dragons eyes? Whoa boy! That was a job... But he sure looks cute... Can't wait till he finds out that's not a manly, man thing to do... Dragons don't like bad news, you know... So I doubt anyone will tell him differently...LOL

This was really adorable, Jack. I felt like I was in a children's book, with a bunch of silly rhymes. I don't know how the old song goes because I've never heard the expression "low as an elephants toe". I really hope someday you will get to publish that children's book you want so badly to accomplish. Dr Suess wrote his last book ages ago and he's not even alive anymore... but he's still affecting the lives of little 'uns everywhere.

"The corn is as HIGH as an elephants eye!" comes from "Oklahoma" which I modified a wee bit! LOL
