An Elegy For the Hunted Dove

In a nest of straw, a gentle dove once dwelled, Seeking peace amidst the urban's frantic maze. With tireless toil, she fashioned dreams untold, Her sanctuary rising amidst chaos' haze. Her eggs, more than mere shells, held hope's embrace, Promising joys yet to dance upon the wind. With patient grace, she waited for the day, When dreams, like petals, would their wonders unfurl. When sweet babes emerged, with fragile wings and beaks, Her heart swelled with love's pure and boundless joy. Yet, cruel weather served as a stark reminder, Life's unpredictability, it would employ. Undeterred, she fought fiercely for her kin, A love profound, a kinship to behold. Unaware of shadows, lurking heartlessly, Those humans without hearts, their hearts turned cold. One fateful day, their heartless whims took hold, Snuffing out her life, her spirit turned to ash. They feasted on her tender flesh, so bold, Leaving her dreams in ruins, hearts aghast. But in her untimely demise, she soared, Beyond pain's grasp, transcending earthly strife. An ethereal symbol of hope she became, Her wings unfurled, beyond the bounds of life. And now, in the ruins of her dreams, The skeletal remains of her siblings, The universe mourns her tragic fate A plea to protect, to cherish, to love.
