An Echo Over Water

I’m not as afraid as I used to be.
I say, there’s trouble coming.
As usual — as he is, him oddly —
he says, let’s see proof.

So there is.
Do I need information?
I can feel her — the vibrations.
She once said, don’t move.

Don’t exit yet, with my eyes.
She asks if I remember
hearing her sing across that lake.

Seemed so long — though only an hour, I think.
I hope it brings this back in dreams,
or wherever I start.

I listen on the dock.
I’ll never forget that song
