An earnest entreaty

Slow down now dear, in life’s last lap The times’ now to reclaim soul’s light Aglow in heart by day and night Let’s dwell in the pause, in the gap Sans thought our ego disappears ‘Tis then presence of God appears Between two thought forms, take a nap Whence no longer by mind decoyed We behold our Self, unalloyed Know ego cravings are a trap Seek that that does not come and go That truth of our true Self we know God’s bliss on tap, eagerly lap Plunge fearlessly into embrace Look into His eyes, face to face Slow down now dear, in life’s last lap Let’s dwell in the pause, in the gap Between two thought forms, take a nap Know ego cravings are a trap God’s bliss on tap, eagerly lap

What a beautiful poem to reflect on especially for a person like me running the last lap of life. For us what is there to gloat on and blow our ego, other than what God has given us. This thought will make us humble. At the last lap, having bade good bye to all heated activities, we have more time to focus on God. Dear Seeker friend, glad you have revived the memories of Connie Marcum and her wonderful poetic form.

Thank you, Valsa dear, so happy you enjoyed. Connie was a very talented poet and a beautiful soul, tragic she left us so early.
