An Autumn Rose

An Autumn Rose No sunlight passes through the cloak of grey That lies upon this quiet autumn day. Trees, bedecked with sparkling drops of dew Compliment my inner thoughts of you. A single rose bud sits with drooping head Amidst this sad and mournful floral bed Which yesterday, or so it now would seem Was vibrant as a young and healthy dream. Just wishing can't restore the chance to bloom As I had wished whilst sitting in your room, Where, deep in sleep, you never blinked an eye In answer to my words, a last goodbye. A final effort, try to live for me, And be my rose for all eternity.
