An Act of Charity

Does not the beggars palm lend charity,
And thus the heart the sweeter sense?
Thy alms given before his eyes
Bear the fruit of man's enterprise
And promise of life’s reverence.
In sweet vapors ascend with thee
Soothing airs of prosperity.
