An Act of Appreciation: An Incident In Japan
An Act of Appreciation
By Elton Camp
A young man pulled an old man from rubble
He had rescued him from this awful trouble
Then he placed the elderly man on his back
It was a most heroic and compassionate act
When the man was in a danger zone no more,
The soldier gently placed him upon the floor
The old man painfully struggled to his feet
With thankful bows, his rescuer did greet
It was a courtesy that none would expect
But appreciation he just wouldn’t neglect
I watched the small incident to my surprise
Consideration by both when tragedy did arise
