Amphetamine of Choice

I hold my breath as lights go down adrenaline overflowing red curtains part a shot in the dark stills my pumping heart Transported to another world of fantasy and make believe music permeates my soul mind and body feeling whole Before too long the end is nigh euphoric I'm still on a high I rise for a standing ovation extolling with total elation Amphetamine of choice helps feed my addiction my malady fixed with a weekly prescription Written 8th April 2019 Contest: Your Amphetamine Sponsor: Anthony Slausin 7th place in Premier contest Contest: May 2019 Premier 4 14 Lines Sponsor: Brian Strand

Ann, I imagine there is nothing as much fun as watching you at a play! Were you an actress in a former life, or do you just love theatre for all those other terrific reasons? Does not matter. Beautifully done, my friend.

Haha.. yes I am sure I was treading the boards in a past life Caren. Whenever I am in a theatre I have this feeling of deja vu, also my paternal grandfather was on the stage in the early 1900's performing in New Zealand and Australia as a Dickens character actor, so in my gene's somewhere! Thanks for your great comments Caren. Kindest thoughts Ann xx

Great poem. My addiction and rush is performing on stage. That's an over the moon experience I Have not had in months I really miss that... But can re-create it under certain conditions with small groups....FUN)) Panagiota

Thanks for your great comments Panagiota, wow to perform on stage must be totally awesome, but despite my love of theatre I have never had the confidence to perform, I am too shy! Hope you get to perform soon... kindest thoughts Ann xx

Oh fantastic! "Transported" indeed. I love the theatre, however waiting for those red urtains to open always makes me want to dye my hair that red ;) Wonderful, original poem for this contest, good luck Ann! xomo

Wow, such a compliment coming from you Maureen thanks. Theatre really is my addiction, I truly love it! Also loving your red hair! Mine used to be red or auburn/titian as hubby used to call it, but now more of a strawberry blonde, Haha. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
