"Amid the jagged shadows of mossy leafless boughs; "
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Silence lifts my burdens of fear
As I make my way through the trees
Branches scratching at my tear
Reminding me that I have all that frees
The tears of grief walk across my breast
Touching my heart with gentle pressure
Thankfully I still don’t feel very stressed
Despite the pain of this saddened gesture
It is a pain that can’t be measured in days
It lifts the mind from its moments of haste
Never aware that is still needs to praise
Or find that its loving will surely be disgraced
Sorrow flows freely through my very bones
Discouraging, depressing, destroying my heart
Knowing it is a sorrow not from mere hormones
It is a death that feels like anguish does impart
Where there was once a beautiful forest in June
Now there is muteness amid days of November
It is here that I find misery amid the gloom
There are days of joy that I can still remember
Sorrow so deep that it shades my world in gray
Brings me a feeling of angst that colors my world
For days, through the misery, I continue to pray
The blues that I’m seeing keep my heart swirled
Drifting through the bare, naked limbs of trees
I find my spirit soothed by the light drifting through
Sunlight that warms my heart; it does please
Soothing away the heartache that was my due
Sweet stillness gives answers from God above
As He answers all the prayers I’ve sent through
He breathes answers that fulfill my heart’s love
Giving me back a sense of peace, a breakthrough
