Amid Falling Leaves

Wet leaves of Autumn footprints in the soft ground soft breeze of summer fill the memory I have found Our last kiss remembered on a day of bright sun when love was full of passion fueled by our desire we burned away to embers beneath this tree of shade a time of endless beauty my heart will keep inlaid I look upon your image still resting in my mind and though this tree is barren stripped by Autumn's hand your face remains so vivid paints the shades of my despair it's here I come to wonder and try to understand Could that we have shared the years of growing old for the world stole your breath and left a Winter's chill with its barren realm of cold I stand amid the falling leaves a broken man who grives who fights the darkest realms of shades as my loneliness unfolds 7/25/20 contest Pick a Title...Free Verse sponsor Edward Ibeh title...Amid Falling Leaves
