Notes About The Poem

American Soldier

The battles won; the battles lost
Our warriors pay a heavy cost
fighting for freedom comes with a price.
They stand up to make the sacrifice

Gallant, brave lives, men, and woman.
Who give it their all till the end.
Counting the price, they have to pay
For freedoms won for us today

                                Leaving behind their families
                              To become a well-trained soldier,
Over foreign lands, and over seas
                                  The meek becoming bolder

                              Never leave a fallen comrade
They must not be left behind
                              Never give up, pushing through.
May Freedom reign for all mankind

                                       Faithful and true
                              The RED, WHITE, and BLUE
                               Old Glory over battles flew
                                       To all our hero's
                                          I thank you!

As a fellow poet I found this to be insightful and impressive, as a veteran I found it to be moving. Thank you for sharing this with us, Anna. It's wonderful!

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Anna, this is absolutely breathtaking! My dad fought in WWII, and many of my uncles as well. I was so moved by your lovely poem! I lost a second cousin, he was my dad's cousin in WWII. He did give it all. Thank you Anna, so very much. God bless you! Thank you for honoring our heroes with your very precious words <3

I know a sweet lady who sent packages for years to Marines serving in the military, mostly at Christmas time. I thought that was such a sweet and thoughtful thing for her to do! You honor them with this poem. It is a wonderful thank you <3 ~BJ
